Giant Eagle Brings a Giant Buggy to the Draft

If you didn’t get a chance to see the world’s largest rubber duck during its return trip to Pittsburgh, don’t fret — Giant Eagle’s got a Giant Buggy.
The street-legal, large-scale shopping cart started cruising around the region on Tuesday, visiting iconic sites such Mount Washington, PNC Park and Rialto Street. It will be parked Downtown at PPG Plaza from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday for photo ops, games and giveaways.
The unique vehicle (which can be operated by anyone with a valid driver’s license) gets up to 25 miles to the gallon. While not specifically designed for the local grocery store chain, the six-passenger Giant Buggy has branded signage, flags and driver uniforms as it navigates the city’s busiest roads, bridges and tunnels.
“We do not have plans to make it a permanent part of Giant Eagle, but we have been met with such a positive response from the community that this might not be the last time you see the Giant Buggy in the ‘Burgh,” says public relations manager Jannah Drexler.
Perhaps the Giant Buggy can cart around that big anthropomorphic Pop-Tart everyone’s been talking about.
