2024 40 Under 40 Honoree: Blessy Bellamy (31)
"My mission is to be an advocate for creating a more equitable and more just and open society that respects and takes into account all people, particularly those whose experiences are not always taken into consideration."
Blessy Bellamy
Customer Experience Strategy Consultant, Highmark Health
Blessy Bellamy always knew she wanted to live a life where the purpose is grounded in serving.
She is passionate about many things, including social determinants of health, and she maximizes her time and visibility at Highmark Health. Her full-time job requires her to outline large-scale problems customers have with their health care experiences and then collaborate on crafting ways to resolve issues.
Bellamy also is part of other initiatives at Highmark, such as chairing the business resource group for Black employees and allies; the organizers make resources available to employees so they may achieve their goals. Career-wise, Bellamy suggests to “avoid telling yourself no before you get a yes.” A future goal of hers would be to advance to leadership — apt for the past recipient of the University of Pittsburgh’s Orosz Award for Excellence in Emerging Leadership. Outside of work, she is chair of the Dormont Public Library board.
