Why are Eat’n Park’s Smiley Cookies Wearing a Mustache?
The Pittsburgh-based restaurant is honoring Pirates phenom Paul Skenes with a new treat.
With a new pitcher on the mound this season, a new Smiley Cookie is taking the plate.
Pittsburgh Pirates fans can now enjoy their smile with a ‘stache in honor of pitching phenom Paul Skenes.
Eat’n Park unveiled their new Bucco ‘Stache Smiley Cookie on Friday. The vibrant Pittsburgh-yellow cookie features a thick black mustache above the treat’s signature grin. The ‘stache is an ode to Skene’s iconic look, which has been taking over PNC Park as fans wear fake facial hair to cheer on the young pitcher.
“We frankly just got caught up in the excitement Paul Skenes has brought to Pittsburgh and we want to celebrate with cookies commemorating his iconic look… and ours!” says Kayla Frattini, the director of brand marketing for SmileyCookie.com, in a statement.
The 6-foot-6, 240-pound righty graduated from Louisiana State University and signed with the Pirates in the first round of the 2023 MLB Draft. The 22-year-old played his first game with the black and gold in May. So far, he is 4-0 with 53 strikeouts.
Though he’s new to the city, Skenes has already made it into the hearts and onto the menus of one of the ’Burgh’s most iconic establishments. Eat’n Park’s Smiley Cookies have been a Pittsburgh sweet treat staple since 1986. Almost 40 years later, more than 6.4 million cookies are enjoyed with a smile each year.
The Bucco ‘Stache Smiley Cookie can be purchased only online at SmileyCookie.com, which ships nationwide. It is not available in restaurants.
