Kate L. Stoy
Associate Corporate Secretary & Senior Associate Counsel, UPMC

When survivors of domestic violence faced Protection From Abuse hearings, Kate Stoy helped assemble a coalition of attorneys to stand beside them. The initiative, created through Fox Rothschild’s partnership with the Allegheny County Bar Foundation’s PFA Project, earned recognition from Neighborhood Legal Services and continues with Stoy’s colleagues at UPMC.

Now UPMC’s associate corporate secretary, Stoy brings her 15 years of litigation, advocacy and service to a new frontier. Her legal career has included national coordinating counsel responsibilities and commercial litigation, but she measures impact in access and support instead.

Stoy, along with her colleagues, now works to ensure that vulnerable members of our community have access to legal advocacy, resources and support.

As president of the Duquesne Law Alumni Association, Stoy launched an initiative addressing law student mental health and well-being, hoping to build healthier habits before burnout and substance abuse take hold.

Stoy moved to Pittsburgh for law school in 2009, but says she found a home as well. She now hopes to repay the mentors who invested in her by opening paths for Pittsburgh’s next generation of leaders.
