2022 40 Under 40 Honoree: The Rev. Marco A. Tinor
“I want to minister to the whole person — their spiritual health, physical health, mental health. I want to empower people in every aspect of their lives.”
THE REV. MARCO A. TINOR (39)
Senior Pastor, St. Paul Baptist Church
For the Rev. Marco A. Tinor, there are no walls at St. Paul Baptist Church in North Point Breeze.
Since becoming St. Paul’s senior pastor seven years ago, he has continually reached outside the historical church to help the community. He partnered with UPMC to provide hundreds of COVID vaccinations and booster shots to the public at the church and holds an annual summer revival at Mellon Park to unite the community and foster racial reconciliation.
In his biggest effort yet, he’s spearheading a project to build a 40-unit independent senior living facility on church property that would provide affordable housing. “A lot of people in the Point Breeze community have been priced out of their neighborhood,” he says. “We want to serve the whole community.”
Although he grew up in the church, this University of Pittsburgh business graduate and former Panther wide receiver worked in sales before getting the call to ministry. “I want to minister to the whole person — their spiritual health, physical health, mental health. I want to empower people in every aspect of their lives.”
