When she first started reselling online, Sharell Johnson was working as a certified nursing assistant and her boutique was only a side hustle. When she launched Diva on Fleek Boutique online and got her business license in 2018, her side hustle became her full-time career.

In May, Johnson opened her first brick-and-mortar location in Ensemble on Fifth, Downtown, and she opened a second location in Garfield in October. At Diva On Fleek, Johnson sells clothing, handbags, jewelry and accessories and enjoys the connection she makes with the women who shop in her store.

“I hope to help a woman feel empowered and know that, although there’s obstacles, she can always prevail,” she says.

Johnson also connects with others in the community by serving as a special-event deacon, youth leader and member of the praise team at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in East Liberty. “The community has done a lot for me personally, and I want other people to feel some of those same blessings and opportunities,” she says.
