2022 40 Under 40 Honoree: Melinda Angeles
“I’m really fortunate to be in a network where I know a lot of people who do a lot of things and I want to help them, and I also want to be one of them.”
MELINDA ANGELES (35)
Systems Engineer (GIS), Allegheny County
Melinda Angeles has a knack for conquering complex projects, whether she’s organizing digital maps or delivering food to help fellow Pittsburghers.
As part of her day job, she builds and maintains maps for Allegheny County, including surveys to improve public health and food bank location tools. Even outside of work, Angeles harnesses data for the public good with Code for Pittsburgh, the civic-hacking group behind food access and the popular fish fry maps.
She also volunteers with 412 Food Rescue, where she was honored as a “rescue warrior” for completing the most food rescues, and serves as a board member of the Filipino American Association of Pittsburgh, where she can introduce her young daughter to “other people to look up to that look like her.”
