“As cliche as it may sound, the goal [of my job] is to make people’s lives better,” Dr. Yasaswi Kislovskiy says.

An obstetrician-gynecologist, Kislovskiy’s mission is to care for marginalized populations, collaborating with them and learning from them. Her focus is to reduce risks associated with reproductive infectious diseases and to provide folks with the tools to prevent problems.

“I feel like the way that offers people the most integrity and honor for their experiences is to ask them — and to try to bring the decision making capacity to [those] who are dealing with the highest risks to their own health,” she says.

“I feel very dear toward Pittsburgh as a city to protect and find friendship in,” she says. “I hope the work that I do invites people to see each other as their neighbors and friends and colleagues.” — JM
