Donta Green helps Pittsburghers leap over barriers. Through his role as executive director at the Trade Institute of Pittsburgh, he’s re-energized its mission to empower people with significant barriers to employment through skill building and career opportunities. In 2021, 45 students graduated with a 100% job placement rate where they earned approximately $17.80 an hour.

Seeing the joy on a student’s face when they earn a driver’s license, get a job or graduate — some for the first time — fuels Green’s work.

“We believe every person should have the opportunity to develop their skills, uncover their talents, and have careers where they can thrive,” says Green, who also serves as head football coach at his high school alma mater, Pittsburgh Westinghouse Academy. “By empowering men and women with barriers to employment through skill building and career opportunities, we help them launch their careers with confidence.”
