“Employees are culture carriers for our values and behaviors, which define who we are, how we act and how we work together.”
ANDRÉA STANFORD (33)
Regional Manager, BNY Mellon’s Pittsburgh Site
The throughline of Andréa Stanford’s career is building community.
As the regional manager for the Pittsburgh site of BNY Mellon, Stanford is responsible for making sure the local BNY Mellon community thrives; Pittsburgh’s outpost is the company’s largest employee base.
“At BNY Mellon, employees are culture carriers for our values and behaviors, which define who we are, how we act and how we work together,” she says, adding that the company’s “Courage to Lead” value, which mandates taking risks and moving on from failures, has resonated with her deeply this past year.
Stanford has also designed and launched a 12-month, Pittsburgh-based BNY Mellon sponsorship program, anchored on relationship-building and creating community. Its goal is to connect Black colleagues based in Pittsburgh with senior leaders across the company.
She explains that, when faced with adversity, she looks to a higher power. “My faith in God has provided the firm foundation to remain steady and level-headed when things get tough.”
