Orlando Houston became interested in the stock market while still a student at Pittsburgh’s Schenley High School. “In our last year of school, I had to do a senior project and I did mine on stockbroking,” he says. “I ended up interviewing a stockbroker Downtown.”

With the stockbroker’s encouragement, Houston decided to study economics at the University of Pittsburgh and, upon graduation, went to work at Equitable Advisors, LLC, where he’s now a financial consultant and former regional vice president.

The first person in his family to attend college, the married father of three is passionate about educating people about financial planning. He has conducted a financial literacy and investment workshop for Pittsburgh Public Schools students, lectured students at McKeesport Area High School and Greensburg Salem and participated in career fairs in local school districts.

“As an individual who grew up in the inner city of Pittsburgh and did not learn financial literacy and the impact of making investments, I feel it is important to pay it forward to those who want to learn,” he says.
