“Pittsburgh is a place you’re really going to be rewarded for your curiosity.”

Creative projects by Boaz Frankel range from the national to the hyper-local.
He went on an early-2020 book tour to promote “Let’s Be Weird Together,” an adorable and heartwarming collection of comics and anecdotes about love he co-created with his wife, Brooke Barker, culminating with two Pittsburgh-area events. He also curates and maintains The Kazoo Museum in Beaufort, South Carolina, the site of the country’s only plastic kazoo factory.
“I had always been interested in the instrument,” he says. “It was nice that we were able to help out this business.”
Locally, his curiosity about his adopted home — he moved to Pittsburgh from Amsterdam in 2019 — led to “Pittsburgh Stories,” a video series that aims to spotlight each of the city’s 90 neighborhoods, among a wide range of video creations.
“The longer I’ve lived here, the more I’ve realized how much there is to discover and learn about Pittsburgh … Pittsburgh is a place you’re really going to be rewarded for your curiosity.”
