Sips

A fine California sparkling is a perfect choice for your New Year’s celebration. One of my favorites is Domaine Carneros. The talented Eileen Crane has been the vineyard’s wine maker from the beginning, resulting in consistent, high-quality wines. The chateau-style facility is a must-visit in Napa Valley. I have enjoyed sipping sparkling wine on the patio at Domaine Carneros many times.

Domaine Carneros Brut  ($23.99; PLCB Code 4578) opens with light-citrus and yeast aromas, and flavors that carry through in the finish.

2005 Domaine Carneros Brut  ($29.99; PLCB Specialty Liquor Order 68819) offers citrus and bread-yeast aromas, and flavors with mineral notes in the finish.

Domaine Carneros Cuvée de la Pompadour Brut Rose
($35.99; PLCB Specialty Code 29246) is a beauty with bright, fresh-cherry fruit aromas and flavors with a creamy, yeasty finish. You will not find a better rose Champagne at twice the price.
