We all have impossible to buy for people on our gift list this season, don’t we?

Take my mother, for instance. If she wants something, she goes out and buys it. Immediately. She sees a sale in the Sunday paper, my father, sitting nearby drinking coffee, hears a whoosh, and looks up to see various circulars flittering to the ground, my mother nowhere to be found, and his car keys and credit card missing.
