Fans of Paris 66’s macarons can now enjoy pastry chef David Piquard’s homemade delicacies at Gaby et Jules.

Gaby et Jules Patisserie et Macarons
Fans of Paris 66’s macarons, available in flavors from chocolate to lavender, can now enjoy pastry chef David Piquard’s homemade delicacies at Gaby et Jules. Piquard, a native of France, moved on from his role at Paris 66 to open this sister shop with Fred and Lori Rongier, the restaurant’s owners. The patisserie, which is named for the grandfathers of Piquard and Fred, offers the meringue-based cookies and other sweets, such as éclairs.

Taverna 19
Honoring Greek food and culture, Taverna 19 opened in late July to much enthusiasm. The restaurant is housed in the Strip’s historic Pennsylvania building and offers a full lineup of Greek fare, including souvlaki and spanakopita. Here, performers dance, and folks break dishes or toss napkins — so it may not be suitable for business meals. It is, however, the right place for lively Greek-food lovers to have a good time. In The Courtyard at Taverna 19, known as “an inner-city hideaway” on 18th Street, you’ll find herbs and plants, a bar, cabana seating and grilled food; stop here for takeout or a sit-down meal on the weekend.

Le Petit Chocolat
Carrying the farm-to-table movement over to confections, Le Petit Chocolat owner Amanda Sougouna sources butter and cream from Turner Dairy Farms and Beaver Meadows Dairy for her handmade candies. The results are mouthwatering —  crème brûlée, ginger rose, toffee and coconut-pineapple-lime chocolates. If you’re ambling through South Side, you’ll notice this simple shop, which opened earlier this summer; walk in and consider getting a piece of dark-chocolate pistachio toffee.
