The City of Pittsburgh is now accepting applications from seniors, veterans and low-income individuals with disabilities for free grass-cutting services this summer.
This is the second year of the City Cuts program, which last year provided lawn care services to more than 950 people. To be eligible, residents must own their home and live within the City of Pittsburgh.
The 2019 City Cuts budget will allow 1,000 residents to receive twice-monthly lawn services from May through October. The City is hoping to build upon the success of last year to offer better service to residents, Mayor Bill Peduto said in a statement.
Applications can be completed: online; in person at one of 18 Carnegie Library branches; at any of the 13 Citiparks Healthy Active Living Centers; or over the phone by calling the Mayor’s 311 Response Line. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
City Cuts began last year through legislation proposed by District 2 Councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith.
