The Best Mob/Vampire Movie Made in Pittsburgh
Still in the mood for something spooky? Check out this filmed-in-Pittsburgh Hollywood production that combines crime, comedy and horror all in one flick.
Long before “Foxcatcher”, “Jack Reacher” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” were filmed in Pittsburgh –– there was “Innocent Blood.”
Described as a crime, comedy horror film, it stars Anne Parillaud as a beautiful French vampire pitted against a gang of mobsters led by Robert Loggia. Many of the film's outdoor urban scenes were shot in the “Little Italy” part of Bloomfield.
Far from a hit at the box office –– the movie earned a 41 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes –– “Innocent Blood” does have it moments and more than a few familiar faces. Actors Tony Sirico and David Proval have supporting parts as gangsters, roles they would reprise in “The Sopranos”. It also features appearances by Anthony LaPaglia, Angela Bassett, Chazz Palminteri and Don Rickles.
“Innocent Blood” is available on Amazon, iTunes, Fandango and other streaming services.
