RAD Days to Offer 30 Days of Free Events in Pittsburgh
The annual celebration will take place from Sept. 7 through Oct. 6.
RAD Days 2024 — a full month of free visits and activities at Pittsburgh’s cultural amenities — are about to begin.
The Allegheny Regional Asset District is promoting more than 60 free events and experiences open for all to attend from Saturday, Sept. 7 through Sunday, Oct. 6. The annual celebration is RAD’s way of thanking taxpayers for their ongoing support of Allegheny County’s libraries, parks and trails, arts and cultural organizations and more.
In 1993 the Pennsylvania legislature passed Act 77, enabling Allegheny County to implement a 1% sales tax, of which half would go to the region’s cultural amenities, libraries, parks and sport facilities and half would go to support Allegheny County government and its 128 municipalities.
RAD, in particular, invites families to explore the events and enjoy a venue they have never visited before.
Some of the attractions include the Pittsburgh Glass Center, the branches of The Carnegie Library to the galleries of The August Wilson African American Cultural Center.
Sports fans can get the chance to walk in the footsteps of their sports heroes, including free tours of PNC Park on Sept. 17, free tours of the Acrisure Stadium on Sept. 18, and free skating at PPG Paints Arena on Sept. 21.
Other attractions that RAD will provide are The Andy Warhol Museum, The Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History, the Carnegie Science Center, The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, and many more.
RAD also is extending through September the free tickets offered to library card holders through its RAD Summer Staycation Program and can reserve them at RADPass.org.
The other RAD events are open to all and you can find the full RAD Days schedule available at RADworkshere.org/events.
