He’s still working on perfecting his leash moves — sometimes he thinks he’s in the main event and pulls ahead — but with some positive reinforcement training, he’ll be walking like a true People’s Champ in no time.

Did you know that DOGust 1st is the universal birthday for shelter dogs without known birthdates? Many of our amazing canine residents came to us with stories we may never fully know — but what we do know is that every dog deserves to feel special and celebrated. So why stop at just one day?

All month long, we’re celebrating DOGUST — a month-long birthday bash for our shelter dogs who’ve already celebrated their first birthday. From August 1 through August 31, requested adoption donations are completely waived for all dogs over one year of age.

But the paw-ty doesn’t stop there:

• Sponsor a Dog: Help us keep the celebration going by sponsoring an adoption!
• Shop the Birthday Wish list: Our pups have been making birthday wishes, and you can help them come true!
• Enrichment Every Day: From birthday-themed treats to playful activities, we’re making sure every dog gets the royal treatment this month!
