Photos: The Ferris Wheel Returns to Oktoberfest
Check out these views from the top.
Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership’s second Oktobefest is back. So is the Ferris wheel.
This year’s festivities, which continue through Oct. 12, are taking place primarily on Fort Duquesne Boulevard, a change from last year’s location of Market Square. The Ferris wheel remains on the Roberto Clemente Bridge.
Last year, 15,000 people took a ride on the Ferris wheel — named after the civil engineer George Ferris, who thought of the idea while living on Pittsburgh’s North Side. Tickets for the approximately 10-minute ride can be purchased online for $7 per person.
