Pittsburgh’s Free Mowing Service Now Accepting Applications

Those who are veterans, are older or have a disability may qualify for this lawn service that runs from late spring to mid-fall.

If you have trouble mowing your grass, you might qualify for the City of Pittsburgh’s  “City Cuts” free lawn service.

Applications are now being accepted for the lawn service that’s offered twice a month, weather permitting, between late spring and mid-fall.

To qualify, applicants must reside in the City of Pittsburgh, own their property or be responsible for the grass cutting of the property and meet one or more of the following qualifications

  • Be a veteran
  • Be 62 years old or older
  • Have a disability
  • Be low-income and are 150% below Federal Poverty Guideline.

The program hires landscapers and contractors who are paid a competitive rate based on each yard’s square-footage.

Service is limited and is awarded on a first-come, first served basis. The deadline to apply online is Monday, April 21.

Lawn care services will begin on May 15 and end on Oct. 15.
