Jake Gyllenhaal is Coming to Chill With Us This Summer

Gyllenhaal and director Antoine Fuqua will return to shoot the boxing film “Southpaw.”

The last time Jake Gyllenhaal visited Pittsburgh was in 2009, when he starred in the movie “Love & Other Drugs” with Anne Hathaway. He’s coming this summer to work on the boxing film “Southpaw” from June to August.

(To be honest, Jake, the bar is set pretty high when it comes to celebrity realness in this town. You could maybe one-up Pinkman with an impromptu Gooski's party).

Strange note about the film: It was originally supposed to star rapper Eminem instead of Gyllenhaal. Seems like a good trade.

“Southpaw” will be a homecoming of sorts for director Antoine Fuqua, who was born in Homewood. Fuqua directed the 2001 film “Training Day” starring Denzel Washington, who won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his work in the cop thriller.

Want to be in the movie? Indiana Mall will hold casting call for extras Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Those who'd like to audition can find details at movieextraspittsburgh.com.

#Thrills: Nemacolin adds a 3,000-foot zipline

Nemacolin used to have a 1,600-foot-long zip line. Now it has a new 3,000-foot-long zip line that takes geeked-out riders from the top all the way to the bottom of the mountain. The Fatbird SuperFlyer reaches speeds of up to 60 mph and flies 60 feet above the ground.

That’s really all you need to know. Strap a GoPro on your head and you’ve got an instant YouTube sensation.
