Dan + Shay have dominated their field at the Grammys in recent years. In February, they’ll have the chance to add another trophy to their collection.

The duo, which includes Wexford-born Dan Smyers, is up for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their single “Bigger Houses.” They previously won that award three consecutive times: in 2019, for “Tequila”; in 2020, for “Speechless”; and in 2021, for “10,000 Hours,” their collaboration with Justin Bieber.

To claim a fourth trophy in the category, they’ll have to beat fellow nominees including Post Malone, Brothers Osborne and Beyoncé, the latter of whom is nominated for the Miley Cyrus duet “II Most Wanted” from her acclaimed country crossover album, “Cowboy Carter.”

Two more frequently nominated locals were among those named Friday, when the nods for the 67th annual awards were announced via YouTube.

Trent Reznor, the New Castle native who led the industrial-rock trailblazers Nine Inch Nails to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is once again nominated for his soundtrack work with frequent collaborator Atticus Ross. The pair’s score for the drama “Challengers” will compete in the Best Score Soundtrack Album for Visual Media category, squaring off against the scores for “American Fiction,” “The Color Purple,” “Dune: Part Two” and the television series “Shogun.”

Reznor has two Grammys for his work with Nine Inch Nails and two more for his film scores, as well as a pair of Academy Awards.

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra also appears on the nominees list. The recording of the PSO’s “Bruckner: Symphony No. 7; Bates: Resurrexit,” conducted by Manfred Honeck, is nominated under the Best Engineered Album, Classical category. (While it’s the PSO on the recording, the nomination is for the engineers, Mark Donahue and John Newton — so don’t expect to see this trophy at Heinz Hall.) That recording also appears on the nominees list in the Producer of the Year, Classical category, as part of the package of recordings produced by nominee Dirk Sobotka.

The Grammy Awards will be broadcast live on CBS on Feb. 2, 2025, from Los Angeles.
