Go on a Global Odyssey: Avian Adventure This Summer Only at the National Aviary
Get your passport stamped around the world — without leaving Pittsburgh.
Travel the world this summer without leaving Pittsburgh! Venture to far away places like the warm beaches of South Africa home to African Penguins or the Amazon Rainforest home to stunning Hyacinth Macaws, and more … only at the National Aviary.
Get your Passport stamped at each stop around the world and discover beautiful birds and mammals through new “In-Flight Entertainment,” or Daily Activities.
Your itinerary will include exciting excursions included with admission like the Destination Australia: Expert Talk featuring a New Guinea Blue-tongued Skink and Laughing Kookaburras, native to the land “Down Under”.
Wander throughout the Aviary’s immersive habitats, stopping at travel-themed photo opportunities like the rocky cliffs of the Andes Mountains in Condor Court where Andean Condors perch up high, the sunny Wetlands where Inca Terns fly overhead and flamingoes wade on the shore, and more. Don’t miss new, travel-themed Interactive Play Spaces, perfect for kids to enjoy while parents relax!
On your trip, be sure to get tickets for the National Aviary’s most immersive show to date, Passport to Parks, presented by AAA Travel. Visit world wonders like the Aurora Borealis and waterfalls twice the size Niagara Falls, and discover the bird species who call them home. Plus, get the chance to get up close to birds: A Gray Crowned-Crane will fly closer than ever to audience members, and a Curl-crested Aracari will fly into the hands of a few randomly selected show “passport holders” for a piece of fruit.
Keep the adventure going and add SkyDeck to your travel itinerary, a summer-only live rooftop bird show! Watch as species found all across the globe, such as Black Kites, found throughout Africa and Asia, take flight from the Aviary’s rooftop, gliding on air currents as they circle over Allegheny Commons Park. You’ll even meet the newest Aviary Animal Ambassador: American Kestrel, She-Ra.
Be transported to the islands of Southeast Asia during the Aviary’s annual 21+ fundraiser, Night in the Tropics: Evening in Paradise Presented by UPMC Health Plan. Dance your way around what feels like an Indo-Malayan night market while sipping on signature drinks and tasting unlimited bites from local restaurants. Enjoy music by headliner Radio Tokyo, island-inspired décor, and up-close meet-and-greets with Animal Ambassadors!
By visiting the National Aviary, you are supporting their work to save birds and protect their habitats.
The National Aviary is open daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Get tickets at aviary.org!
