As November arrives and the nation honors its veterans, we, at GBU Life and the GBU Foundation, proudly highlight one of our 2024 Community Grant Award recipients — Veterans Parsonage. Awarded a $5,000 grant under GBU Life’s Hometown Hero Support pillar, Veterans Parsonage provides a place of refuge and renewal for those who once wore the uniform.

GBU Life’s Commitment to Community

At GBU Life, our mission goes beyond life insurance and financial protection. As a member-owned fraternal benefit society, we give back to the communities where our members live, work and serve. Through the GBU Foundation’s Community Grant Awards, we support nonprofits that embody service, compassion and connection.

Each year, the Foundation awards grants across four pillars—Wellness, Education, Charitable Giving and Hometown Hero Support. In 2024, Veterans Parsonage was one of 13 organizations to receive funding, earning $5,000 for its dedication to helping veterans achieve stability and belonging after service.

Veterans Parsonage: Serving Those Who Served

The grant helped Veterans Parsonage enhance programs that guide veterans toward independent living. Funding supported maintaining safe housing, assisting with utilities and repairs and expanding outreach and counseling initiatives that promote well-being. These efforts reflect the goals of GBU Life’s Hometown Hero Support pillar, amplifying the work of organizations making tangible differences in people’s lives.

A Veterans Day Reflection

As Veterans Day approaches, we celebrate nonprofits like Veterans Parsonage, whose compassion embodies the values GBU Life was founded on. Across the country, veterans still face barriers—housing insecurity, health challenges or isolation. Veterans Parsonage meets those needs with understanding and action, creating not only shelter but community. Through the GBU Foundation support, their mission continues to thrive.

On Veterans Day and every day, GBU Life salutes those who served. Through our Hometown Heroes initiative, members have donated more than $207,000 to military and frontline organizations in the first half of 2025, reflecting our deep gratitude.
