Forbes’ 400 Richest People in America Includes These Pittsburghers
Pittsburgh is tied to the list through industries like retail, movies, investments and building materials.
The 400 richest people in America are worth a combined $5.4 trillion.
Some of that wealth stems from the Pittsburgh area.
Three people with ties to the Pittsburgh region made the annual list: Edward Stack (225), Thomas Tull (359) and Maggie Hardy (374).
Mt. Lebanon native Mark Cuban is also on the list at No. 230, although Forbes categorizes him under Texas because of his minority stake in the Dallas Mavericks. Forbes lists his net worth at $5.7 billion.
Former minority-stake holder of the Pittsburgh Steelers David Tepper comes in at No. 39 with a net worth of $21.3 billion. He is categorized under Florida.
A minimum net worth of $3.3 billion is required to be part of the list, according to Forbes.
Ed Stack
Stack’s net worth of $5.8 billion comes from Dick’s Sporting Goods, of which he is the executive chairman and largest individual shareholder. According to Forbes, his father Dick Stack started the sports retail company in 1948. Dick Stack used a $300 loan from his grandmother to start the business.
Dick’s Sporting Goods is now responsible for more than $13 billion in annual sales, according to Forbes. The retailer’s corporate office is in Coraopolis, PA. Stack resides in Sewickley.

Thomas Tull
Tull’s $3.7 billion net worth comes from investments and the movie industry — he is the founder of Legendary Entertainment, which brought production of “The Dark Knight Rises” to Pittsburgh in 2011. He sold the production company to the Wanda Group in 2015 for around $3.5 billion, according to Forbes.
In addition to holding a minority stake in the Steelers, he also holds a minority stake in the New York Yankees. Tull founded Rivendale Farms in 2015. The farm, which is located in Washington County, specializes in dairy.

Maggie Hardy
Hardy’s net worth of $3.6 billion comes from 84 Lumber, of which she is the owner and CEO. Her father Joe Hardy founded the company in 1956 in Eighty Four, Washington County, according to Forbes.
Maggie took over the business in 1992. She was 26.
84 Lumber is now one of the largest privately-held building material suppliers in the country. It generates about $8 billion in revenue across its 310 facilities in 35 states, according to Forbes.
Hardy also owns the Nemacolin resort in Farmington, PA. She lives in Belle Vernon, PA.
