The Federal Aviation Administration’s plan to reduce flight capacity at dozens of airports across the country will not affect the number of flights at Pittsburgh International Airport, at least in this first round. But because so many other major airports will be facing flight reductions, flights arriving to or departing from PIT could see ripple effects.

The list of affected airports, published by ABC News, does include Philadelphia International. A source told ABC News that the flight reductions will start at 4% on Friday and work up to 10%. The flights facing these reductions are scheduled during the hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Airport officials said to closely monitor their flight schedules with their airlines or follow their flights at flypittsburgh.com.

There’s still no word about an opening day for the $1.7 billion new terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport.
