Community LIFE Celebrates 25 Years Young
With Community LIFE, older adults can participate in activities that have been important to them since their youth.
Community LIFE is celebrating 25 years of keeping seniors independent and in their homes through an all-inclusive program. With eight Health and Wellness Centers throughout the region, and the comprehensive services that Community LIFE provides, older adults are able to participate in activities that have been important to them since their youth, when they were 25 themselves.
My Community LIFE
This year’s 25th anniversary theme is “My Community LIFE” to honor the people and the communities that support these seniors. To help kick off the anniversary celebration, Community LIFE held an open house on March 13th at their McKeesport Center, featuring key speakers such as Community LIFE President, Fatemeh Hashtroudi, Chair of the Board, Jim Pieffer, and Vice Chair, Deborah Brodine.
Community LIFE’s journey actually began back in 1994, when Pittsburgh Care Partnership, Inc. was established as a nonprofit to support health and human services for the elderly. In 2000, the first LIFE center opened in McKeesport. Though it has moved since then to a larger, renovated center, the open house that took place in McKeesport was meaningful to honor the center that helped start it all.
Upon learning about this landmark anniversary, one of the participants, Candy W., said, “I had no idea that it was 25 years old. I wished I’d have known about it a lot sooner. I could have joined a lot sooner!”
