What Is the Meaning of Community LIFE?

The organization celebrates 25 years.

Community Life 25 Year Anniversary

Community LIFE is honored to be celebrating its 25th anniversary. This milestone has the whole community looking back on how this program has changed the lives of seniors and their families by helping them stay independent and in their homes. But let’s hear it from the participants themselves.

As a tribute to the 25th anniversary celebration, participants were asked, “What does Community LIFE mean to you?” And this is what they had to say.

Meaningful Communities

Cleveland

Cleveland R. has been a participant at Community LIFE for nine years. “When I went down to see it, it was like, love at first sight,” he says. “That’s it, I’ve been there ever since.”

For Candy W., Community LIFE has not only helped her but also was a tremendous gift to her late husband. “I mean, there’s just nothing, nothing I can say that’ll ever, ever be good enough to what you guys have done for him,” she says. “Community LIFE has been a miracle for us, but especially him. He had a new heart, new eyes, new ears, new everything. Community LIFE did everything for him.”

Other participants speak about how their lives became more vibrant, filled with companionship and fun activities. Laura S. talks about how Community LIFE gave her a second chance at life. “I believe they saved my life,” she says. “I was sitting at home all depressed and lonely. Didn’t have many friends … It’s literally like turning my life upside down, you know. I became happy, active, I made friends.”

She can’t believe what she is still doing and learning at her age. “It feels good to be happy,” Laura says.

Find Your Community LIFE

Albert Janet

Albert and Janet W. are happily married and participate in Community LIFE together. They are advocates for others to seek out this program and see what it can truly do.

“Please consider it. Follow through with everything because the program is a fantastic program. You will not be sorry,” says Janet.

“People I know, they must be scared to venture out into a program like this,” says Albert. “But I wouldn’t have been able to survive without them.”
