More opportunities for Allegheny County residents to clear out those old electronics collecting dust in garages, basements and attics are available next month.
Pennsylvania Resources Council, with support from the Allegheny County Health Department and the Allegheny County Parks Department, will host e-waste collection events on Mondays and Wednesdays in October at North Park.
“PRC helps residents conveniently and cost-effectively dispose of a wide variety of items not accepted in curbside pickup,” said PRC Executive Director Darren Spielman in a press release. “We need to divert these materials from landfills since many contain toxic elements that can leach into our waterways and our environment, while others contain valuable resources.”
Participants must register in advance online or by calling 412-488-7490.
Registration is now open for the four-week collection series:
- Mondays, October 2, 9, 16, 23 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Wednesdays, October 4, 11, 18, 25 from Noon – 3 p.m.
There is a per-item fee for the following electronics:
- Computer Monitors (flat screen & CRT) – $20 each
- Televisions – $30 each
- Console or Rear Projection TVs – $40 each
- Printers – $5 each
A $5 participant fee will be collected for unlimited disposal of cell/home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment (keyboards, laptops, mice, etc.) and video game consoles/DVD players.
