Fast Track: American Airlines Offers Nonstops to Kentucky Derby
The special flights are scheduled between Pittsburgh International Airport and Louisville, Kentucky for the May 3 Run for the Roses.
If you’re heading to the Kentucky Derby this spring, it will be a little easier to get there.
American Airlines has announced special nonstop round trips between Pittsburgh International Airport and Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky on May 1 and May 4. The Run for the Roses takes place at Churchill Downs on Saturday, May 3.
On Thursday, May 1, flights leave PIT at 7:05 a.m., arriving in Louisville at 8:35 a.m. The return flight leaves Louisville on Sunday, May 4 at 9:05 a.m. and returns to PIT at 10:20 a.m.
American will be using the regional carrier Republic Airways for the flights.
Airlines have added special scheduled and charter services around major sports events in the past. For example, American in January operated more flights from PIT to Miami for Penn State fans traveling there to see the Nittany Lions play Notre Dame in the NCAA College Football Playoff Semifinal.
So for the Kentucky Derby, now you’ve just got to round up that hat!
