Pittsburgh has always had a good story to tell; once a year, it gathers to tell it out loud.

Pgh Book Fest is a free, all-ages celebration of the city’s literary community, drawing novelists, poets and devoted readers to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s Oakland campus. The 2026 event, set for May 30, arrives with a stellar lineup.

Steven Rowley, the New York Times bestselling author behind “Lily and the Octopus” and Thurber Prize-winner “The Guncle,” heads a roster that also includes Catherine Newman, whose novels “Sandwich” and “Wreck” were both instant NYT bestsellers, and John Scalzi, Hugo Award-winning author of “Redshirts” and one of science fiction’s most beloved voices.

Newbery Medal-winner Meg Medina rounds out the headliners, ensuring something for readers of every age and appetite.

Beyond the stage, expect bookstores, comic shops, publishers, children’s activities and dozens of poets filling every corner of the grounds. Join the cast of characters at author meet-and-greets, workshops and signings.

I’ll read you there.
