New Castle Native Wins Third Golden Globe
Trent Reznor took home the award for Best Original Score – Motion Picture alongside Atticus Ross at the 2025 Golden Globes.
New Castle native Trent Reznor has another Golden Globe to add to his collection.
Reznor and his longtime collaborator, Atticus Ross, took home the Golden Globe for Best Original Score for their work on “Challengers,” the high-octane, sizzling tennis film from director Luca Guadagnino.
This is the pair’s sixth Golden Globe nomination and third win. Reznor and Ross took home the same award in 2011 and 2021 for their work on “The Social Network” and “Soul,” respectively.
Elton John and Brandi Carlile presented the award.
This was the only win for “Challengers” out of its four nominations, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The film stars Zendaya, Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor.
The “Challengers” score earned a Grammy nomination in November for Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media. Other local Grammy nominees include Dan + Shay and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Reznor and Ross are shortlisted for an Oscar, too. The Grammys air on Feb. 2, while the Oscars take place March 2.
