Go Red for Women: Prioritizing a Woman’s Heart
The annual Greater Pittsburgh Go Red for Women Experience takes place Thursday, May 9, 2024.
For 100 years, the American Heart Association has saved and improved lives, pioneered scientific discovery and advocated for healthy communities. As the Association enters its second century of life-saving work, these efforts remain critical as cardiovascular disease continues to be the number one killer in the United States, claiming more lives than all cancers combined.
For women, the focus on heart health is more critical than ever. Despite significant strides in medical research, women remain underrepresented in cardiovascular studies, leading to gaps in our understanding of how heart disease uniquely affects them.
Recognizing this urgent need, in 2004 the American Heart Association created Go Red for Women —a national initiative aimed at ending heart disease and stroke in women.
As we look to the next 100 years, the American Heart Association, through Go Red for Women, is prepared to meet the evolving needs of women now, and at every age, every stage, and every season of their lives as their trusted, relevant source for credible, equitable health solutions.
The annual Greater Pittsburgh Go Red for Women Experience is set for Thursday, May 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center. Enjoy an evening of learning, networking, cocktails, and conversations. Back by popular demand is the Red Couch conversation with health experts answering your questions about women’s heart health at every stage of life.
