After decades of tackling home improvement projects for friends and family, Tina Daniels decided to leave her career in health care and turn her side hustle into a full-time business. She took as many business classes as she could and quickly landed on the model that launched Concrete Rose Construction in 2019.

Concrete Rose renovates and builds single-family and multi-family residential structures, with its primary focus on rehabbing distressed homes to increase the value of the property and those around it. From the start, Daniels has sought to provide customers with beautiful and affordable homes that go beyond the basics. “Living in a home that is aesthetically pleasing and laid out to suit today’s families gives residents a sense of peace and dignity that helps them manage the challenges of daily life,” she says.

After Concrete Rose surpassed $1 million in annual revenue during its third year in business, Daniels decided to delve into real estate development and leasing. Since then, she has restored two formerly vacant and tax-delinquent single-family homes and is currently working on two more, in addition to her first multi-unit project.

As a developer and contractor, Concrete Rose focuses on providing beautiful homes for low and moderate-income families. Daniels’ ultimate goal is to increase the number of affordable, high-quality rentals in Allegheny County. Today, Concrete Rose almost exclusively takes on outside projects from nonprofit and government agencies that serve renters and homeowners from low and moderate-income brackets. Daniels is especially proud of the work her company does to help senior homeowners who cannot afford essential repairs and single moms who are looking to purchase their first home.

In addition to a love for her work, Daniels is driven by a philosophy expressed in a quote by Dale Carnegie: “There is no such thing as a neutral exchange—you leave someone either a little better or a little worse.”

“My work touches a lot of people—clients, subcontractors, tenants, neighbors, and many more — and I strive to always leave them better than before,” Daniels says.
