What Sara Innamorato likes about her job as Allegheny County executive is being on the ground and seeing county government work in action.

“I love going to Second Avenue Commons and talking to the folks who are delivering food to their unhoused neighbors … I go to the 911 center and talk to the people who answer your 911 calls,” she says. “You see the real difference county money and county people make in people’s lives.”

Innamorato was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2018 and became the youngest Allegheny County executive and the first woman elected to the office. In her first year in office in 2023, she launched “500in500,” a plan to find 500 units of affordable housing in 500 days for those who are unhoused.

Immamorato also is committed to supporting small businesses and driving economic growth in the county. She says that 98% of the priorities in her “All In Action Plan,” which includes more than 90 initiatives, have either been started or completed.
