2024 40 Under 40 Honoree: Joslyne Counselman (32)
"I enjoy finding efficiencies in my life where I can blend something that’s really exciting and gives me joy and motivation for impact."
Joslyne Counselman
Financial Advisor for Thrivent Financial
When Joslyne Counselman was a freshman at Thiel College, her father died by suicide at age 46. Her family was left without a long-term financial plan, and the experience motivated Counselman to pursue a career assisting people in developing “holistic financial plans” to make sure they prepare for their future, no matter their skill level or income.
“I get to help people everyday just make smart financial decisions,” she says. Outside of work, she’s president of the North Allegheny Women’s Association, which serves women in need and cultivates support networks.
Years ago she created the popular Adult Egg Hunt in North Park that’s now an annual fundraiser for the women’s association. She also serves on the board of Al’s Bike Drive, which during her tenure has increased the number of donated bikes from 100 to 1,000 each year. A marathon runner, she lately has been combining those races with raising money for various causes, including suicide prevention.
