"I hope that I can change the life of one individual or perhaps an entire neighborhood."
Dr. Leonard Weiss
Medical Director, City of Pittsburgh EMS; Assistant Medical Director, STAT MedEvac
In his many roles across the city, Dr. Leonard Weiss’ tasks vary widely from administration to quality improvement meetings, medical oversight of emergency systems to teaching at universities, working clinically in hospitals and providing guidance and treatment plans for medical emergencies to commercial airlines.
“Just as if it was my own family, I worry about what any other citizen goes through,” he says.
Among many other things, he also spends his spare time serving as the Medical Director of the student-run Carnegie Mellon University EMS, is a founding expert in the UPMC Minutes Matter effort to provide education to the public to help act in medical emergencies and serves as the Medical Director to the Pittsburgh Marathon.
“I hope that I can change the life of one individual or perhaps an entire neighborhood,” he says. “I go to work with that end goal in mind, whatever the role of the day is.”
