2024 40 Under 40 Honoree: Darla Sherlock (32)
"Every family in our area should feel valued, loved and supported, and to help that, I think that you can start with the littlest. You can start with the babies."
Darla Sherlock
Senior Director of Programming, Beverly’s PGH
Darla Sherlock believes that everyone should put themselves in others’ shoes. Even though she does not have children of her own yet, she makes it her mission to help mothers in need.
She oversees all three divisions of Beverly’s PGH as the senior director of programming: Birthdays, Babies and Basics. With the help of Beverly’s PGH, she launched the Greater Pittsburgh Infant Formula Bank, providing free infant formula to babies up to 12 times in their first year. The initiative has fed more than 3,000 babies since it began in June 2022.
Beverly’s PGH will also be starting a mobile division in Pittsburgh and Westmoreland County to provide formula and lactation support to mothers. She models her work after Fred Rogers, saying she strives to “strengthen the community starting with our littlest neighbors.” Additionally, she is a certified doula and a board member of Postpartum Pittsburgh, a nonprofit that helps mothers who are struggling with postpartum mental health.
