“I’ve leveraged my position, my power and opportunities to give other people an opportunity and chance to succeed and to realize their full potential.”

CEO, Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship

Wayne Jones doesn’t back down from challenges. In fact, he thrives on them.

As CEO of the Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship since 2016, he successfully navigated a management change at the K-8 school that now draws 510 students from a dozen school districts and has a waiting list of more than 300 students.

With expansion efforts underway, he expects the school to grow to more than 600 students in three years to five years. If that’s not enough, he is founder of a new charter high school on entrepreneurship called Dominus, which was recently approved by the Woodland Hills School Board. Projected to open in fall 2024, it would be the first high school of its kind in the region.

Jones, who has a doctorate in education, also teaches entrepreneurship as an adjunct in the Duquesne University business department.

A member of several local boards, he values his work with activist Leon Ford on the Hear Foundation, which works toward improving relations between the community and police.
