Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
Volunteer Engagement Center
Volunteers help inspect, sort and repackage food in the Duquesne, PA warehouse. With the help of volunteers, thousands of food boxes are constructed daily that will be directly distributed to community members.
Distributions
Volunteers at Distributions get hands-on experience distributing food and interacting with the community. Participants help load cars full of nutritious foods for hundreds of families and individuals at this outdoor event.
Food Bank Farm & Gleaning
Help prepare, maintain and harvest organic produce at the Food Bank Farm. Volunteers can also join Food Bank staff in rescuing fresh food from farms through our gleaning program.
Clerical Support & Skilled Volunteers
Help the Food Bank by utilizing your skillset and interests. Volunteers will be connected to a Food Bank Department and work directly with staff to complete projects in the office. Become a local food bank volunteer.
Farmers Markets
Volunteers interact with vendors at the end of farmers’ markets and collect donations from farmers, which then they deliver to the local agency they have been matched with.
The Market
The Market, in partnership with Giant Eagle, offers a grocery store-style experience providing shelf-stable, meat, dairy, fresh produce and non-food grocery items as well as connections to additional resources for help.
