Dinosaurs, Late Nights and a Summer Party at the National Aviary

Kids ages 2-92 will love visiting the National Aviary this summer. There is something for everyone with a new Living Dinosaurs exhibit, late nights with beer and wine before baseball games and Night in the Tropics.

New! Living Dinosaurs Presented by Peoples
Daily from 10 am – 5 pm, opens May 25

This summer only, see real dinosaur fossils, realistic dinosaur models, touchable replicas of dinosaur eggs and nests and life-sized pterosaur sculptures throughout the National Aviary. Snap a photo with a velociraptor, meet a feathered baby T-Rex that blinks, roars and interacts with guests and fly like a pterosaur through Jurassic times with a full body flight simulator. Meet the National Aviary’s flock of living dinosaurs — birds! Join a daily guided tour to see the birds up-close and discover how they descended from dinosaurs. You’ll be surprised to learn which birds are the closest relatives of dinosaurs and what makes birds similar to their prehistoric ancestors. Kids can play with a dino-themed puzzle, dinosaur costumes, life-sized nests, dig pits, games and crafts. Dinosaur nerds and novices of all ages are welcome.

The National Aviary is open until 8 p.m. on select nights starting June 5. Heading to the ball game? Purchase our parking pass with admission for convenient parking at the National Aviary, walking distance from PNC Park, and leave your car in our secure lot during the game. Play lawn games in the Rose Garden and enjoy summery music. Grab a beer or glass of wine from the cash bar and have dinner with summer favorites including a hot dog cart, pizza, nachos and more from Atria’s. Take advantage of special promotions and giveaways. Stroll through our habitats and see you can spot our sloth, Wookiee, overhead! Details will be available soon on the National Aviary’s website.

The National Aviary's signature fundraiser, Night in the Tropics, returns in July with a vibrant new theme: Rio! Come hungry because this energetic party includes light bites from more than 30 of Pittsburgh’s favorite restaurants. Plus, beer, wine and specialty cocktails are included with your ticket. Get exclusive, up-close encounters with beautiful birds, access to immersive tropical habitats and enjoy live music and dancing under the stars. Upgrade to a VIP ticket to enjoy the party (and the food) an hour early, and receive free valet parking and access to the VIP tent, which includes catering from Atria’s and a full bar with premium spirits. This event sells out quickly, so get your tickets now. Get an early bird discount when you purchase before May 31.
