Five (More) Ways to Summer-ize Your Winter

Click here to tell us what you do to cheer up when freezing temperatures threaten to keep you in front of the TV until spring.

Summerize your Winter

Spray-Kissed:

So what if you haven't been to the beach in months? Skip the sunscreen (and sunburns) and head to a local spray-tanning booth, where you can look bronzed and beautiful in a matter of minutes. Try the Tanning Room in the South Side, Anytime Tanning Club in Squirrel Hill or Instatan in Mount Lebanon.

Grill Out:

When the weather outside is frightful, grilling on the inside can be simply delightful. Just pull the grill up to your patio's sliding door and you can cook all your summer-time favorite foods while standing in your living room.

Take a Dip:

It may be freezing in Pittsburgh, but it is always 84 degrees at Splash Lagoon, the indoor water park located just two hours north of the city, in Erie, PA. You can relax in the whirlpools or ride down the lazy river, but if you are a bit more daring, try the water slides - sure to be the most fun you'll ever have during a "Shark Attack" or a "Cyclone."

Make a Racket:

Nothing says summer like outdoor sports, so get your game face on and head over to the Mellon Park Tennis Center, an indoor tennis facility in Point Breeze. Amid the dome's bright lights and comfortable temperature, you'll swear you were spending a summer afternoon in the park. Court fees start at $20, but call to make a reservation first.

Light That Fire:

Still need s'more ideas? Dust off those barbeque forks and make a campfire in your fireplace instead of your backyard. Roasting marshmallows for s'mores will bring back all those memories of late summer nights spent outdoors. You can even throw in a ghost story for good measure.
