Shop Talk

“Design is so personal,” says Cathy Davin, owner of Davin Interiors, a full-range, end-to-end interior design firm. “We draw on our expertise to help our clients discover and define their individual aesthetic.” One home may call for a soft Zenlike scheme while another may be best suited for a bright and energetic space, Davin explains. “With every project, we strive to achieve a balance of beauty, simplicity and functionality.”

Design Tips

» Energize your home with fresh color. Greens and blues are especially popular shades that balance well with white or other neutrals.

» Freshen up a traditional style with clean lines in furniture and draperies.

» To breathe life into a room, add fresh flowers and live plants.

» To avoid the costly mistake of purchasing furnishings that aren’t the correct size or scale, plan carefully and double-check measurements.

» Grouping multiple pieces of artwork has more impact than hanging a single image (and no, they don’t have to match).
