Allegheny Health Network Cancer Institute’s Cancer Help Line
Oncology nurses at AHN are here to help whether it’s 3 p.m. or 3 a.m. Free for everyone, no matter your insurance or health care provider.
Cancer doesn’t quit at 5 p.m. And neither does AHN. When a patient is diagnosed with cancer, their life is put on hold for a short time while they feel many emotions — shock, fear, and sadness. And they probably have a lot of questions running around in their head or jotted down in a notebook — not just at diagnosis, but throughout the entire cancer journey.
AHN’s dedicated AHN Cancer Help Line is staffed by experienced oncology nurses who specialize in cancer care and can provide patients with knowledgeable answers to their questions. Staff can also give one-on-one advice and support or even just a friendly ear to let patients know they understand what they are going through.
Got cancer questions? Get cancer answers.
The AHN Cancer Help Line is for patients, no matter what stage of the cancer journey they are on — just diagnosed, receiving treatment, or in recovery or remission. The experienced, compassionate nurses can help patients or family‑members by discussing such topics as:
- Your diagnosis and test results
- Your cancer and treatment options
- Any side effects you’re experiencing and tips to manage them
- Potential clinical trials for which you may be eligible
- Referrals to support groups, therapists, and alternative medicine specialists
- Nutritional information to improve your strength and energy
- Coordination of care to your oncology team (for AHN patients)
AHN’s expert physicians specialize in every type of cancer and work together to determine the most effective treatment strategy. Innovation and game changers: the state-of-the-art facilities, advanced technology, and novel clinical trials provide patients with high-quality care.
