Twofer: Beringer Cabernet Sauvignons

Spring for one of these bottles of vino for Dad this Father's Day — and pair with a juicy burger.

Finding the right Father’s Day gift for Dad can be challenging. If you have not purchased a gift yet, we have two red-wine recommendations from Beringer: One is reasonably priced, while the other is a little more costly — but Dad is worth it.

The Knights Valley cabernet sauvignon [$29.99; PLCB code: 8664] opens with aromas of cassis and black cherry, with a touch of oak. The wine, scored at 89, has fruit flavors that are in balance with a light herbal component in the finish.

The Napa Valley private reserve cabernet sauvignon [$156.99; PLCB SLO code: 541850] is incredible — hence the 97-point rating. Available by special liquor order only, this wine has pronounced aromas of black currant, black raspberry, licorice and smoke. Its rich, black fruit flavors are in perfect balance with vanilla oak for a complex, lasting finish.

Both options pair well with grilled beef. Happy Father’s Day!
