Description

The Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh officially introduces its new public space with an opening event on Sunday, October 18 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at its new location in the Squirrel Hill Plaza, 826 Hazelwood Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15217. The Center is a living memorial and a comprehensive resource center that conveys the contemporary relevance of the atrocities of the Holocaust and its lessons. The opening event will formally introduce the Center to the region and present the premiere of In Celebration of Life: Living Legacy Project, an original photographic and multimedia exhibition conceived, developed and curated by the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh to honor and commemorate our region’s Holocaust survivors. The October 18 event will also include the presentation of the first annual Holocaust Educator Award to Dr. Barbara Burstin for her tireless and long-standing dedication to Holocaust education in the Pittsburgh area. “In addition to honoring our survivors with the new exhibit, ‘In Celebration of Life,’ and presenting our first Educator Award, this event is the perfect opportunity to introduce the resources and expertise we have available at the Center,” says Laurie Moser, Chair of the Opening Event. “Along with touring the new space, educators, community leaders and the public will also have the chance to meet our board leadership, our new director Dr. Lauren Apter Bairnsfather, and our staff. “
