Give Big Pittsburgh Returning for Its Second Year
There’s no such thing as a bad time to give back, but some days are better than others.
Pittsburgh Magazine’s charitable giving campaign #GiveBigPittsburgh is returning for its second year in November.
Give Big Pittsburgh will take place on Giving Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The day is recognized nationally as a time to give to those in need following Black Friday and Cyber Monday’s shopping sprees. Last year nearly 7,000 people, most of them based in Pittsburgh, donated $1.3 million on Giving Tuesday alone.
This year Pittsburgh Magazine is partnering with the Pittsburgh Foundation and GiveGab, an online donation platform, to crowdfund even more money for Pittsburgh nonprofits. At midnight on Nov. 27 the giving begins, and the registered nonprofits will compete with one another to win prizes such as Early Bird Donor — the nonprofit that receives the first donation of the day, Most Unique Donors or Most Money Raised.
The Give Big Pittsburgh website, hosted by GiveGab, offers a toolkit for nonprofits that may be interested in participating, but have questions. There are downloadable planning guides, social media tips and training webinars available to help organizations promote their participation as beneficiaries of Give Big Pittsburgh.
