Blood Science Foundation Invites You to Swing from the Heart

Organization to Host Fundraiser at Pittsburgh’s New Topgolf.

The greater Pittsburgh area welcomed Topgolf to the region with the opening of the new Bridgeville complex in July.

This fall, Blood Science Foundation is inviting golfers of all skill sets to “Swing from the Heart” at the foundation’s fundraising event.

Join the organization on October 29 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. for an afternoon of fun and competition at the facility.

From Topgolf’s climate-controlled hitting bays, teams of six golfers will compete to score the most points by hitting various targets on the playing field. The event is perfectly suited for golfers of all skill levels.

The top three teams will win a prize, and everyone who participates will have the chance to win $10,000.

Guests will enjoy a meal, unlimited soft drinks, wine and beer. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction.

“Our area’s Topgolf has created lots of buzz since it arrived, and we are excited to partner with this new community asset for our fall fundraiser,” said Mark Giaquinto, president and CFO of Blood Science Foundation. “It’ll be a great afternoon of competition and camaraderie, all for a good cause.”

All proceeds from “Swing from the Heart” will benefit the Central Blood Bank’s High School Scholarship Program, which provides scholarships to Pittsburgh-area high schools that go to deserving college-bound high school graduates.

“When schools in our region host blood drives, they are making a difference on two fronts,” Giaquinto added. “They are helping the Central Blood Bank to secure a safe, adequate blood supply for the many hospitals in our region, and they are helping some of their classmates to potentially fund a college education. It’s a win-win.”

Giaquinto noted that someone needs a blood transfusion in the United States every two seconds. A single blood donor can save up to three lives.
