Mail Time: A Pittsburgh Icon Will Be in Your Mailbox
The U.S. Postal Service revealed designs for its 2018 Forever Stamps, and one features a neighbor you may recognize.
Next year you may be seeing a lot more of Mister Rogers — in your mailbox.
Pittsburgh icon Fred Rogers will appear on speciality “Forever” stamps beginning in 2018. The United States Postal Service announced Tuesday that Rogers would be featured alongside other celebrities, symbols and activists of great cultural significance.
USPS selected Rogers because of the effects his show, “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” had on young viewers. The long-running program inspired and educated children with warmth, sensitivity and honesty, the USPS said in their announcement.
The Postal Service will announce further details and release dates for the 2018 stamps at a later date.
